Race Furniture’s Fantastic 50’s Chair Collection (Re-Launched)

Back in the 1950’s, Ernest Race, one of the famous British furniture designer, was achieving international acclaim for his furniture designs which are, at that time, considered as unique and forward thinking furniture design. Nowadays, several designs from those collection are re-launched by Race Furniture as part of the ’100% Design’ exhibition.

The original furniture itself was originally made in natural colors and made from natural wood. But in this re-launched edition, Race Furniture presented them in brighter and cheerful colors as they’re now available in new pastel shades of pink, yellow, light blue and pistachio green.

There are not every design was originally made from wooden. Race’s “BA3”, for example. This chair was the first mass-produced dining chair ever made with aluminum frame, and originally was made from recycled material from WW2 aircraft parts. But in this re-launched edition, the chair is no longer using aircraft parts as the material, yet it still looks great. Not only “BA3”, some other designs in this collection are also made from different material, like Heron, BA2, Antelope and Antelope Rocker.
