Phat Knits designed by Bauke Knottnerus

This 2008 Phat Knits series is a new interiors product design, furniture ideas designed by Dutch designer Bauke Knottnerus. The series of oversized furniture pieces each resemble knitting in a variety of scales. One piece features a series of multi coloured strings that can be tied or woven together, while another consists of a single giant knot. The knitted pieces are actually made using giant knitting needles. These needles and the over-sized strings can be used to produce a variety of object from carpets to seats.

Managing to be both bizarre yet maintaining a level of cutting edge fashion about his work, Knottnerus dabbles in the black art of Willy Wonka without ever coming across naff or tacky, if you’ve got the house to carry this sort of adventurous interior design off then Phat Knits would certainly prove a talking point for years to come.
