The Plateau lounge chair is a modern seating design collection that was designed by Erik Magnussen for Danish manufacturer Engelbrechts. The chair got its name due to the wide flat armrest that leaves enough space for a Dry Martini, a remote control or even a laptop. The chair’s challenging design led to new production processes that minimize sewing, which is why the chair is covered in only two pieces of textile or leather.
The 1.2m tall plateau chair’s shell is made of 15 mm cold foam on hard MDI foam, resting on a highly polished aluminum base with automatic return or free turn swivel. Erik Magnussen found his inspiration for Plateau’s organic shape in the shape of his own left hand, where his thumb inspired the chair’s plateau and the other fingers the backrest. This modern seating design is the best furniture design that will suit with your contemporary living room, bedroom, foyer, library or lounge. this plateau lounge chair retails for approximately $4,091 in textile and $5,969 in leather.
